I come in one Saturday night,
As drunk as I could be,
Found another man's horse in the stable
Where my horse ought to be.

Said, "Come here, little wifie,
Explain this thing to me,
How come a horse in the stable
Where my horse ought to be?"

You crazy fool, you doggone old fool,
Now can't you never see?
It's nothing but a milk-cow
Your granny gave to me.

I've rambled this world over
Ten thousand miles or more;
And a saddle on a milk-cow's back
I never have seen before.

2. I come in one Saturday night,
As drunk as I could be,
Found another man's coat a-hanging o n the rack
Where my horse ought to be.

Said, "Come here, little wifie,
Explain this thing to me,
How come a coat a-hanging on the rack
Where my coat ought to be?"

You crazy fool, you doggone old fool,
Now can't you never see?
It's nothing but a bed quilt
Your granny gave to me.

I've rambled this world over
Ten thousand miles or more;
And a pocket on a bed quilt
I never have seen before.

3. I come in one Saturday night,
As drunk as I could be,
Found another man's head a-laying in the bed
Where my head ought to be.

Said, "Come here, little wifie,
Explain this thing to me,
How come another man's head a-laying in the bed
Where my horse ought to be?"

You crazy fool, you doggone old fool,
Now can't you never see?
It's nothing but a cabbage head
Your granny gave to me.

I've rambled this world over
Ten thousand miles or more;
And a mustache on cabbage head
I never have seen before.
