B. "Geordie"- Sung by William Dodson of Half Island Lake, NS; pre1950 Creighton B;

1. As I went over London bridge
It was in the morning early,
It was there I espied a pretty fair maid,
She was lamenting for her Geordie.

2. "What has he done, who has he killed,
Has he murdered anybody?"
He stole three of the King's deers
And sold them in a hurry."

3. "Oh sad will be my milk white steed,
Oh sad will be my pony;
Five hundred pounds I would lay down
To plead for the life of Geordie."

4. But when she reached the London fair court
It was laddies she saw many,
But when she saw her own dearest dear
it grieved her more than any.

5 The judge looked over his left shoulder,
And of words he did say many,
"I fear maiden you are too late,
For your Geordie's condemned already."

6. The judge looked over his right shoulder
And of words he did say many,
"Prepare for death young man," he said,
"For mercy you can't have any."

7. I'll have him buried in a marble tomb,
Such tombs there can't be many,
And those who tread over him shall say,
Here lies the life of Geordie.

8 "If I had Geordie on yonder hill,
Where kisses we had many,
With a sword and pistol all bu my side,
I would fight for the life of Geordie."
