Lord Thomas & Fair Ellinor- Mrs. William McNab (Halifax, NS)

1. Lord Thomas he had a sword by his side
Which was not sharp at all,
He cut the brown girl's head right off
And dashed it against the wall.

2. "O dig my grave," Lord Thomas he cried,
"Dig it both wide and deep,
And lay fair Ellinor by my side
And the brown girl at my feet."

3. He took his lady by the hand
And led her o'er the plain,
And he never spoke another word
Till he split her head in twain.

4. Lord Arnold has killed his wife to-day
And he shall be hanged to-morrow.
