 The Trooper and the Maid- Finchum (VA) 1915 Davis A

1 There was a man a-coming from the south,
It being dark and gloomy;
She knew the soldier by his horse,
Because she loved him dearly,
Dearly, oh dearly
She knew the soldier by his horse,
Because she loved him dearly.

2 She caught him by the bridal rein
She led him to the stable.
"Here's  oats and corn for the soldier's horse,
Come feed him at your leisure.' [sim.]
