The Braes o' Yarrow- Insch (OK) c.1920 Moore B

[From the Moores; Ballads & Folk Songs of the Southwest pp. 104-106 (version B); two stanzas with music.

Mr. Insch of Tulsa, OK was born in Peterhead, Scotland. He arrived in Philadelphia in 1907 then relocated to Tulsa in 1908. This was probably collected by the Moores in the 1940s. I'm guessing he learned this circa 1920 but it could have been earlier (pre 1907).

1. Oh, sister these are midnight dreams
That pass not with the morning.
Then ask not why my reason swims,
In a brain so wildly burning.

Ask me not why I fancy now,
Yon wee bird sings with sorrow.
The bluid lies mingled wi' the dew,
Upon the braes o' Yarrow.
