Summary - In this ballad, Lady Margaret elopes with Lord William, and the couple are pursued by her father and brothers. William turns and fights them, only stopping when Margaret begs him not to kill her father. They resume their journey and stop to drink at a stream, where Margaret sees that William has been wounded. After they arrive at William's house, he succumbs to his wounds and dies. Lady Margaret then dies of grief and the two are buried side by side, a rose growing from his grave, a briar from hers.

Lord William- sung by  George Inglis Fraser of Strichen, Aberdeenshire in November 1959. Reporters - Prof. Kenneth Goldstein
