Lady Marget- Sung by Charley Short (Galena, Mo.) August 21, 1941 Randolph D. Mr short said it is a fragment of a very long ballads which he heard sung near Galena by Frank Payne, and old-time riverman, about 1900.

Lady Marget standing in her door,
A-combing back her hair,
Sweet William rose in his bed clothes,
To share in her despair.

Three time he kissed her clay cold lips,
Four time he kissed her chin,
Six times he kissed her snowy white breast,
And it sunk his heat within.
