POOR GIRL
- sung by Mrs. Lora Moore of Jasper, Arkansas April 24, 1962

In yonder's town there is a house
Where my true love is sitting down.
Another girl sits by his side
Which you all may know tis a grief to me.

A grief to me and I'll tell you why

Because she has more gold than I.
Her gold will melt and her silver'll blast
And she'll be poor like me at last.

Go dig my grave both wide and deep
Place a marble stone at my head and feet.
Carve on my tomb a snow white dove
To show this world I died in love.
