NOTES: "Come En Go Wid Me" or "Come And Go With Me" is a traditional spiritual collected from The Carolina Low-Country (Page 230) Society for the Preservation of Spirituals, Augustine Thomas Smythe in 1931. "Come En Go Wid Me" was also reported in the Charleston Society for the Preservation of Spirituals founded in 1922. It is not related to the "Come And Go With Me" that begins, "Come and go with me to that land.."
The song was mentioned in a promo for the 2007 book, "The Christmas Pearl" by Dorothea Benton Frank: "With her truculent family gathered at her stately Charleston mansion for Christmas, 93-year-old matriarch Theodora is having a hard time tolerating the lot of them. Theodora hankers for her 1920s childhood, when Pearl, the family's stern black maid, enforced strict houshold discipline and took no guff while working hard at Christmas, all the while singing gospel favorites such as "Come en Go wid Me."
