Brisk Young Carter- sung by William Cole of East Stratton, Hampshire on 23 March, 1909-- collected by G. B. Gardiner and Charles Gamblin.

A brisk young carter courted me,
He robbed me of my liberty
He robbed me of a free good will,
Now after all I love him still.

There is an alehouse in the town,
My love goes in and sits him down;
He'll take another strange girl on his knee
And don't you think that's a grief to me.
