A Working Man Came Home One Night
- sung by Brian 'Jumper' Collins a member of Royal Navy, recorded in Cyprus, 1984 by Gwilym Davies.

A working man came home one night,
To find his home without a light;
And as he walked into the boon,
He walked into his daughter's room.

He stepped into his daughter's room
He saw her hanging from a beam;
And with his knife he cut her down
And on her breast this note he found:

Oh father dear I am so ashamed,
To bear this child without a name,
So dig my grave and dig it deep
And lay white lilies at my feet.

He dug her grave he dug it deep
He laid white lilies at her feet.
And on the headstone note prefound[1]
She wrote these words that you have found.

[Now all you maidens bear in mind]
A sailor’s love is hard to find[2]
[But when you find one good and true
Don’t change the old one for the new]

1. he can't remember this ending
2. Sing this line and stops
