The Trees They Did Grow High- sung by William Ellison, 79 years old, of Amesbury Workhouse, Wiltshire on 10 August, 1909. Collector: Gardiner, G.B. Guyer, John F.

The trees that did grow high and the leaves they did grow green,
The day is  past  and gone, my love, which you and I have seen;
In a cold winter's night, my love when you and I med[1] lie alone,
For the bonny boy is young and he's growing.
