Apple Sauce and Butter

This scrap of Negro song I have not found elsewhere, but it is
twice recorded in the North Carolina Collection.

'Apple Sauce and Butter Spread out on the Floor." Contributed to the
Collection in practically identical texts by D. C. Crawford and C. L.
Walker — in neither case with any record of locality or date.

Apple sauce and butter spread out on the floor,

I am going to marr}- dat pretty yellow gal that came from

Baltimore,
For she is sweeter than 'lasses, she's sweet as any pie ;
I am going to marry that pretty yellow gal that is coming

bye and bye.
