Spanish Lady- J. W. Spence (Aber) 1905 Greig G

Spanish Lady- J. W. Spence (Aber) 1905 Greig G

[Single stanza with music from Greig-Duncan Collection 4, version G. The title probably should be "English lady" but I'm leaving it. This is a version of Spanish Lady I with the stanza reworked from 1776 bawdy song, "The Ride in London."

R. Matteson 2017]

"Spanish Lady"- sung by J. W. Spence of Aberdeenshire (see his bio, August 1905 from Greig-Duncan Collection 4.

1. As I gaed up thro' Edinburgh city
Half past twelve o'clock at night
There I saw a English lady
Dressing herself by candle light.
