Pretty Polly- Sung by Mrs. Ruby Abel of Huntsville, Ark. August 12, 1958  The first line of each stanza is sung twice.

Polly, pretty Polly, come walk along with me,
Some secrets talk over, our wedding day to be.

They traveled over mountains and valleys so deep,
Until pretty Polly began to wail and, weep.

Oh William, sweet William, you're leading me astray,
O'er mountains and valleys and hills far away.

Oh Polly, pretty Polly, you're guessing just right,
I dug on your grave the most of last night

He stuck his knife in her, the blood it did flow,
And into the hole pretty Polly did go.

He threw some sod o'er her and turned to go home,
Leaving the birds to sing the sad moan.

Now ladies and gentlemen, I'll bid you goodnight.
He died with heart failure that very night.
