O Captain, Captain- sung by Mabel Skelton (1919-1988), of Arbroath, Angus. Mabel Skelton learned the song, which she describes as a sea shanty, from her uncle, a whaler.

O captain captain, build me a boat,
As on the ocean I need float.
And every ship that passes by,
I'll make enquiry for my sailor boy.

What kind of clothes does your sailor wear?
And what is the colour of your sailor's hair?
His hair is fair, his heart is true
He wears a suit of royal blue.
