"Kind Sir" sung by Mr. Austen (Pirkey, Virginia) before 1931 sent to Dorothy Scarborough and published in  "A Song Catcher" 1938.

1. Kind Sir, I see you're coming again
Pray tell me why 'tis so;
When we parted on yonders hill,
I told you to come here no more, no more
I told you to come no more.

2. Kind miss, I have a very fine horse,
It paces like the tide,
And it shall be at your command,
If you will be bride, my bride
If you will be bride.

3. Kind sir, I know your very fine horse,
It paces like the tide,
His master will take a glass of wine,
I'm sure the horse will learn, will learn,
I'm sure the horse will learn.

4. Kind miss, I have a very fine house,
And also a very fine yard,
And it shall be at your command,
If you will be bride, my bride
If you will be bride.

5. Kind sir, I know your very fine house,
And also your very fine yard,
But who will stay with me at night,
When you're out playing cards, cards,
When you're out playing cards?

6. Kind miss, I have a very fine field,
Just sixty acres square,
And it shall be at your command,
If you will be bride, my bride
If you will be bride.

7. Kind sir, I know your fine field,
And sixty acres square,
If you come in I'll root you out,
For you know a hog will root, root,
For you know a hog will root.

8. Ha, ha, ha, it's plain to see,
You love my money but you don't love me,
And I'll not marry, marry you,
And I'll not marry you.
