The Prentice Boy- sung by  Mrs. Chalk of Twyford, Hampshire in August 1906. Collected by G.B. Gardiner.

My father educated me, good learning gave to me
he bound me to some Miller's man so well we did agree
Till I fell a-courtin' a fair pretty maid with a black and rolling eye,
I asked her if she'd take a walk down in those meadows gay
And there we sat and talked a while and fixed the wedding day.

I took hold of her curly curly locks I dragged her to the brim
