Sheffield Park- sung by Mrs. Smith of King's Pyon, Herefordshire in September, 1912. Collected by Ella Mary Leather.

1. O Sheffield Park where young Willy did dwell
A bold young lad and he loved me well,
He courted me my poor heart to gain,
He is gone and left me full with pain.

2. I went up stairs to make my bed,
Lay myself down O but nothing said,
My misses came and to me she said,
"What is the matter with you, my maid?"

3. O misses, misses you little know,
The pain and sorrow I undergo,
Put your right hand on my left breast,
My poor panting heart it can take no rest.

4. O a man's not made, O without one alone,
He takes delight for to hear her mourn.
A moaning tone this fair young damsel say,
"Young William stole my poor heart away."

5. Come dig my grave both long, wide and deep,
A marble stone at my head and feet
And in the middle a turtle dove
To shown this wide world I died for love.
