MADAM, I HAVE COME A-COURTIN'

Isadore Craten Casto of Jackson County was born February 10, 1871. He proved most cooperative and said he thought the episode above was about the first date of the Quaker boy but ". . . the way she talks, the girl has had dates before!"

1. "Madam I have come a-courtin',
Oh! dear me,
and brought with me many discourses
Oh! dear me.

Girl (spoken)-"Welcome be if you desire-
fah, dinktum, diddle ah day-
You may sit and court the fire-
fah, dinktum, diddle ah day."

2. "Here's a ring cost ninety shillings-
Oh! dear, me.
And you may wear it if you're willing,
Oh! dear me."

Girl (spoken)-"I don't want none of your money-
fah, dinktum, diddle ah day-
I want someone to cail me honey-
fah, dinktum, diddle ah day."

3. "She called her dogs and sicked them on me
Oh! dear me_
And oh-how they did run me-
Oh! dear me."

Girl (spoken)-"Run, oh, run you little Quaker-

If they catch you, how they'll shake you,
fah, dinktum, diddle ah day."
