[My title, Creighton associated this with Hind Horn and titled it  Broken Ring Song Fragment- which it's not. Single stanza from Creighton's 1933 book, Songs and Ballads of Nova Scotia.

This is nearly identical to the first stanza of D, "Sailor Boy and his Faithful Mary" ("A sailor's life is a merry life") Pitts printer, Wholesale Toy and marble war[e]house. 6 Great st Andrew street 7 dils [sic] London, printed between 1819 and 1844.

[A Sailor's Life] "Broken Ring Song Fragment" sung by Mr. Edward Hartley of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, c. 1932.

A sailor's life is a merry life,
They rob young women of their heart's delight,
And leave them behind for to sigh and mourn,
And never know when they will return.
